Business Advisory — How We Work
How a Business Advisory Engagement Works
From First Call to Measurable Outcome.
A closer look at how we run a Business Advisory engagement end to end — what each stage actually involves, what we need from your team, and what you should expect to have in hand by the time we’re done.
The four stages of an engagement.
What actually happens at each stage, and roughly how long it takes.
Stage 1 • 1–2 calls, usually within the first week
Discovery
A discovery call to understand where the business stands today, what’s actually blocking progress, and what a good outcome would look like — no generic intake form.
We start with a direct conversation: who’s involved, what’s been tried before, and what’s changed recently that makes this urgent now. By the end of this stage we’ve agreed the real question we’re solving, not just the one it looked like at the start.
Stage 2 • 1–3 weeks, depending on scope
Diagnosis
We get underneath the strategy, operating model, or positioning problem to find what’s actually driving it — not just the symptom visible from the boardroom.
This is where we talk to the people closest to the problem and look at how decisions actually get made day to day. You get a clear, evidenced view of what’s really going on — often the first time it’s been said plainly.
Stage 3 • 1–2 weeks to first draft
Roadmap
A prioritized plan built around what the organization can actually execute — not a slide deck of generic frameworks and levers.
We hand over a small number of moves, sequenced and owned, with the tradeoffs made explicit so leadership can commit to them with eyes open.
Stage 4 • Ongoing, scoped to the engagement
Execution
Hands-on delivery alongside your team through rollout, with the same rigor as the diagnosis, until the outcome is measurable.
We stay in the work — not just advising from the sidelines — through the parts that are hardest to land: the handoffs, the pushback, the moment the plan meets reality.
